Disaster relocates EgoPo in Philadelphia with a dual production presentation of Genet’s infamous play.
Back in 2005, EgoPo found its new artistic home in Philadelphia following another catastrophic disaster. While prepping The Maids x2 for the Philly Fringe, EgoPo received word that their home theater in New Orleans had been destroyed by Hurricane Katrina. Thanks to the kindness of the local theater community, EgoPo was able to relocate, rebuild, and prosper in the City of Brotherly Love.
This dual production presented two different sides of Genet’s infamous play: one traditionally staged starring a female cast… and one set in a prison starring a male cast.

About Jean Genet
Jean Genet (19 December 1910 – 15 April 1986) was a French novelist, playwright, poet, essayist, and political activist.
In his early life he was a vagabond and petty criminal, but he later became a writer and playwright.
His major works include the novels The Thief's Journal and Our Lady of the Flowers and the plays The Balcony, The Maids and The Screens.
